M&E is a technology-driven company committed to developing the Japanese live streaming market. It has branches in Tokyo and currently operates two apps, DokiDoki Live and Pokekara.
DokiDoki Live quickly gained wide recognition after launch in the Japanese market. It enjoys a great popularity with a large number of Japanese streamers and users. Specifically, it ranked among the top 5 and top 2 social networking apps on App Store and Google Play respectively in Japan in 2017. Pokekara was launched at the end of 2018, ranked first among all Japanese apps in June 2019, and was rated by App Annie as a top 3 fastest-growing app in Japan in 2020.
With the continuous business growth, the Ops costs of the services used by M&E gradually increased, and their availability could not be guaranteed. To improve the user experience, a low-latency and high-quality live streaming service was required. The original data analysis system failed to meet the ever-growing business needs and cost too much. In view of this, M&E adopted auto scaling capabilities to allocate cloud resources in real time to better sustain business surges.
Tencent Cloud offers a wide variety of established IaaS products for database, network, and storage, which eliminate the customer's needs to create and maintain services on their own and deliver a high availability.
In terms of audio/video live streaming products, Tencent Cloud provides TRTC and CSS to meet high requirements for a low latency in diverse business and interaction scenarios of audio/video live streaming. Tencent Cloud CDN boosts globally deployed cache nodes to support larger-scale live streaming.
After M&E migrated to Tencent Cloud, its Ops costs were greatly reduced, and its service reliability and user experience were significantly improved.
Pokekara will continuously expand its business realm while consolidating its existing strengths, in an effort to become synonymous with audio/video entertainment. It will also continue its collaboration with Tencent Cloud to develop new products and explore new fields in the hope of creating more market darlings.
